1. 'chair get back to work

silverchair are back at work as Ben, Chris and Daniel have been rehearsing new songs in the loft above Ben's garage.
They have lots of ideas for new songs and are in the process of putting them together for recording.
The 'chair will return to the studio to work with Nick Launay on the band's third album for Sony. The plan is to start production in mid-June if Nick can wrap up his current project by then.
Since doing "Freak Show" with silverchair, Nick has produced albums for Girls Against Boys, Semisonic, Subrosa and the 'chair's Murmur labelmates Automatic

2. Godzilla soundtrack due this month

The soundtrack of the forthcoming movie spectacular Godzilla, featuring a new song by silverchair, is due in stores on May 19th.
In late February, the members of silverchair interrupted an extended break and joined Freak Show producer Nick Launay at Megaphon Studios in Sydney. They recorded a song which actually had its origins in the 1996 Freak Show sessions. Halfway through recording the original version, silverchair scrapped the song. But with a new set of lyrics by Daniel Johns, some new musical bits and different arrangement ideas from Johns and drummer Ben Gillies, the song has been resurrected for the Godzilla soundtrack and is called "Untitled."
The song is quite different for silverchair -- for starters, it's in 6/8 or waltz time! "Untitled" also prominently features piano and cello. The band is said to be happy with the track, though they are careful to point out that it is not necessarily indicative of what to expect on the new album.
